Understanding PowerSite Statistics - Visits vs. Page Views

March 18, 2008

Question:

If “Visits” are number of times a person visits a PowerSite and “Page views” are the number of pages viewed when person visits the site, how can “Visits” ever be less than “Page view”? Don’t you have to “visit” the site first before “viewing” a page? I am watching my sites and I am trying to figure out what is most valuable info, i.e. traffic, etc.

Answer:

One visitor can view multiple pages making the number of page views higher than the number of visits. Visits are basically the number of visitors ( unique people ) coming to your site.
